The kidney symptoms for kidney stones include sharp pains in the back or side (flank pain), microscopic hematuria, gross hematuria, fever, confusion, and nausea. Other symptoms include a stinging or burning when urinating and urinary frequency.

The kidney symptoms for kidney obstruction also known as uretero-pelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction include urinary tract infection (UTI), microscopic hematuria, gross hematuria, flank pain, vomiting, and a lump in the kidney area.

The kidney symptoms for kidney infection are urinary frequency, cloudy urine, stinging or burning urination, gross hematuria, microscopic hematuria, fever, abdominal and back pain.

The kidney symptoms for polycystic kidney disease (PKD) include microscopic hematuria, gross hematuria, flank pain, nocturia (frequent urination at night), high blood pressure, and soreness or pain in the kidney area.

The kidney symptoms appear similar for multiple kidney disorders and symptoms from other urinary system organs also mimic kidney symptoms. Bladder symptoms, prostate symptoms (sintomas prostata), testicular cancer symptoms, and urinary symptoms share the same symptoms. By keeping a diary of the symptoms a better picture can help the doctor quickly run the appropriate diagnostic tests to rule out and narrow down the test results and determine the urological disorder that is presenting.

The kidney symptoms for renal cell carcinoma usually do not appear in the early stages of the disease. Since feeling fatigued, having a slight fever, and losing some weight are common occurrences when becoming ill many people choose to wait for these symptoms to pass and just get over it. While having a “bug”, flu, cold, and “feeling under the weather” have these same symptoms, cancer such as renal cell carcinoma is a very serious concern, so when you start to get the above symptoms, keep a diary and let your physician know about them. While maintaining a brave front and “not complaining” about the way you feel is thought of as a good characteristic, being a good advocate for your health is the smart thing to do and is an even better characteristic because you have the chance of early intervention thus minimizing the disease, sick time, financial investment, permanent damage and saving your life. The kidney tests are covered on the next page.
